It was a lot of first for me yesterday night - being invited to a “Tayangan Perdana” of such nature, watching a malay flick and being introduced and labeled as a "Blogger".
Suanie asked me along to the opening night of Gol & Gincu yesterday. She told me TV Smith had tickets and wanted company so I went without knowing what to expect besides to dress nice. Spotted a lot of local artist, the whole crew of GG, Amber Chia (the leng lui of the moment), Marina Mahathir (the role model of the nation) and others which Suanie pointed out to me but I had no idea who they were besides their pretty face.
The show was more than I expected since I have never seen any Malay films before, not even Sepet (I know! I know!). It was rather slow to develop but had a lot of embedded social problems faced by Malaysians, reflecting its influence on the younger generation. Being the emotional fool I am, I almost shed a few tears at a few scenes. But it was a great show, entertaining, funny, not too bad a story line – just how a simple movie should be.
After the movie, we stood around, took some pictures with the cast and were introduced to some crew and TV’s friends. Strangely, we were being introduced and labeled as “bloggers”. It was surreal. I think I really need some time to get used to this. I don’t know who to thank exactly, should it be Daniel for the tix, TV or Suanie for the invite? But I did enjoy myself very much, especially walking a lost little bird to his car – another first!
